If Aardman animated The Avengers

At last months Motor City Comic-Con, I picked up a very funny/cool figurine combo of Batman & Robin designed by Rich Webber and sculpted by Phil Ramirez for Aardman and DC entertainment. What makes it so cool for me is that they combined two of my favorite passions, comic characters and animation.

Now, I’m a Marvel guy, but I do have an appreciation for many of the DC characters and with all the great writers and artists creating the bat books over the years, it would be hard not to find something you like. Aardman animation is different. I fell in love with the stop motion claymations of Wallace and Gromit when I first laid eyes on them while in collage at CCS. Many of my fellow classmates and I would walk over to the DIA theater to see the annual Spike and Mike Festival of Animation. With classics such as No Neck Joe and Bambi Meets Godzilla, it was always good entertainment. Wallace and Gromit’s adventure to the moon, A Grand Day Out, was my first taste of Aardman short films and I was hooked.

Now, if I could just get them to do a spoof animation of the Avengers……..

With that in mind, I sketched this out to see what an Aardman Avengers might look like.
